Prabal Chakraborty

Prabal Chakraborty was the Vice President and Managing Director of Boston Scientific India Private Ltd for a period of 7.5 years. He comes with a rich experience of over 27 years in Medical Device industry. His forte lies in launching new businesses, leading large teams and developing leadership pipeline. He has led BSCI in setting the vision, strategy and launch of the Powered To Win Strategy.

He held several leadership positions in different industry bodies and helped in shaping the healthcare environment in India : Chairman of the Medical Device Committee of American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM), Co-Chair of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Indian Advisory Council Member of U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), and Director at Medical Technology Association of India (MTAI). Additionally, he was also an active member of other bodies like FICCI, AdvaMed & NATHEALTH.

His previous assignment was Vice President, Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices & Diagnostics, India. He led Ethicon, Ethicon Endo Surgery and Cordis franchises and expanded their footprint in India. As part of the worldwide marketing team, he developed global launch plans for the Cypher drug eluting stent. In 2002, he moved to Singapore and provided strategic leadership to J&J’s Cordis Asia Pacific (including Japan) franchise for a period of 5 years.

Prabal holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, India.
