At PadUp, incubation is to mentor an entrepreneur(s) by being a partner in their journey, to position their idea while validating its viability, to bring their products/services to market, by educating them on what they need to know so that they can connect with relevant dots to build a sustainable business.

A Guide

A mentor is a Guide who is willing to tell what ‘needs’ to be heard, not what one ‘wants’ to hear, looks out for the best interest of the entrepreneur, connects dots whenever possible to get further, pushes to do more, do better and do differently.

A mentor has in-depth knowledge and networks in one or more industry/vertical. He provides knowledge, advice, introductions and helps you learn to become self-sufficient. He is busy, active, in-demand and well respected for his knowledge and views on the subject.

The Act

At PadUp, the mentor helps validate the idea, develop the tech solution, build an ecosystem, suggest new ways to monetize, refine the biz plan & provide access to investors. With deep understanding of the startup lifecycle, mentors have a strong corporate linkage that enables commercialization; mentors can help tech startups bring a positive change. Mentors also connect to customers, channel partners, investors, media, analysts & advisors.

The People

At PadUp, the mentor has in-depth knowledge and networks in one or more industry/vertical They look out for the best interest of the entrepreneur, connects dots,provides knowledge, advice, introductions, pushes to do more, do better , do differently. The Mentor will sometimes sit next to an entrepreneur and hold his hand. Mind you a mentor is a busy, active, in-demand professional, who still helps entrepreneurs to learn and become self-sufficient.

The Action

At PadUp, mentors are encouraged to solve the problems for entrepreneurs as well as help entrepreneurs to develop the capability to solve their own problems. Mentors, help the entrepreneurs to explore their goals & ideas, realistically appraise their situation from time to time, challenge & support the execution of plans and to assist them keep track with their objectives. The mentor may offer advice and opinion, but the responsibility of decision-making rests solely with entrepreneur.

Mentor Gains

The personal satisfaction of being able to give something back to Startup Community, the chance to pass on the learning of business to someone who will benefit from it, to practice the managerial skills and guide the entrepreneur(s) through a key stage in their career, and to boost the mentor’s own career by adding mentorship to their skill set.

Mentors’ Commitment

A mentors’ time is limited, but they still spend 8-10 hours of mentoring over a month per mentee. However it is often found that mentors enjoy the experience so much that they give more time than just the required minimum. The mentor also commits himself to the entire duration of the program or as long as may be required, unless triggered by an event of exit.

Gratification

PadUp believes in equity based shared wealth model when as and when the startup creates wealth for stakeholders. Partners at PadUp are bound to make a difference; how startups start, survive, sustain and scale with the help of mentors shall be highly appreciated. So we at PadUp begin the new innings of our lives along with these young, smart, energetic and hungry startups/entrepreneurs that need to PadUp too.

Responsibilities

Mentors do not carry out the work on behalf of entrepreneur but can be a source of guidance and advice for them. The mentor may offer advice and opinion, but the mentor is not a consultant. Responsibility for decision-making rests solely with the entrepreneur. Though the ultimate responsibility is to strive for success, and there are no guarantees, the mentors shall help in screening, on boarding, rolling out, Biz Dev, strategies, find raising & exits.
