Aam Admi Party, Have U Forgotten Crowdsourcing?

One of the biggest achievement of Aam Admi Party (AAP) was raising fund thru Crowdfunding! It was really some sort of historical achievement in India. No Indian political party had tried this as neither of them had the vision or the guts to do so. It was not only a bold move but very well executed. The result was amazing success! However, when it comes to 'Crowdsourcing' AAP has been very pretentious! AAP did announce Crowd-sourcing for their budget ideas and many other similar issues. However, I can really see thru their hypocritical ways as none of the Crowdsourcing effort have been either transparent or nor have they adopted any of the ideas suggested. Yes, Entrepreneurs are Meditators!

As per Wikipedia, one of the definitions of Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content without becoming identified with that content or as an end in itself .

To be in a Startup mode is just like meditating as the goal of a Entrepreneur is to consciously achieve a status of delivering a product or service that would provide benefit to user and hence I believe Entrepreneurs are Meditators!

However, this comparison goes beyond the simple definition, as the similarity is strikingly more evident once the comparison is on the Process and Outcome. Read More..

The Change Management & The Brilliance Of NRN

When N.R.Narayanmurthy returned to Infosys, as a student and adviser on "Change Management" I was very skeptical as what is his agenda, how will he make any difference, what value his son Rohan will add etc etc. Now post Vishal Sikka's announcement as CEO, I am able to connect the dots with his actions in the past few months and can say NRN is a brilliant visionary and exceptional executioner!. Dude Mobile Is Different !

I heard my 21 year old undergrad student son say "Dude, Mobile is Different!" to his friend and that got me thinking "Really!". So i decided to spend last few months studying the 'difference' and I concluded my finding (just for now) post GSM World!

As I just returned from GSM World conference where I heard and read various speakers and articles on Mobile advertising. All I can say is 'Really!' as all I found was numerous ad networks, LBA, Video Advertising companies and 'Mobile Advertising Based on Big Data' and companies providing 'tools for targeted mobile advertising'! Well they all have a place in current eco system, however, if you ask me if any one of them will be to mobile what Google was to internet, my answer is I doubt it. Well i am sure not many people would care about my opinion. but that stands for now as far as I am concern!

Team Spirit"...Teach me now!

An Article “Team spirit” in Economist prompted me to write this article. I may sound very critical of many things related to “Team spirit” in India , but then facts, when stated are many times adversarial to government and organisations responsible for running social establishments like schools, sports and those creating employment opportunities. They keep doing things without staying relevant and hence it is important to look at it critically to understand the wrongdoing! Read More..

If your customers ain't sharing, no one is buying!!

In good old days, one would show off its prized possession to people around like neighbors, relatives and even family members to make then envious, jealous or feel inferior. Children would showcase their toys, teenagers would showcase their clothes and adults would showoff their high value items like jewelry etc. etc.. This would inspire others to look into same direction and seriously think of owning those products. Once people started using services, they shared the experience and that made other people wanting to have similar experience. People would talk about their experience at a dinner, hotel, resort etc. and others would get inspired to go thru the same experience. This was called the word of mouth publicity then. People who had good experience, would repeat it for a brand or for a retailer or for a service or for its provider. A happy customer would proudly share their experience about the products & services and hence others were getting inspired/influenced to buy them. Read More..

Entrepreneurs are born and made!

This is the statement I am hoping will put new light on a question that has been asked time and gain and lots of scholarly people have tried o answer it in their own different ways. I tried to take a shot at it and went back in my own past to find answer. Was I born to be an entrepreneur or was I made? Well answer is obvious and as clear as it can be that I was born as an entrepreneur and then made better by various inputs! Yes, it is a kind of oxymoron but I genuinely think that is the way it happened. So here is my submission to explain the above statement. Read More..

Its not Consumer Affair, Its Consumer Relationship, stupid!

I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull very early in my life (age 15) and have been heavily influenced by the book. The first part of the book , where Jonathan breaks all the shackles to learn the magic of flying high, I tried to emulate with various ventures and is somewhat done for me. The second part where Jonathan goes back to the community to give back his learning and joy “the payback time”, starts for me now. Read More..

Past Frequent Flyers”: How to Loose your...

Airlines remain very indifferent to their customers, specially to their “past Frequent Fliers”! I say past as all senior executives, who fly frequently, take a career break every now and then and reduce their flying frequency, becoming “past Frequent Flyers” I am not sure how much data analyses airlines indulge into, but in my experience, they are worst at it as all these “past Frequent Flyers” are very upset including me! 3 Ways to Beat Competition

I keep observing that increasingly companies and the management getting paranoid about competition and its activities due to some losses in the market place! Each and every move of competition starts getting tracked and discussed! The competitors’ numbers, their technology, their operations etc. etc. Unfortunately much of this information is being sourced by the sales team, who provide their feedback to their managers, who discuss this on daily basis and Read More..

Selling is not same anymore!

Sales is not Selling Products or selling yourself or for that matter developing
relationships Anymore: While putting together a sales training program for an organization, i cam across this realization that selling is no more the same as it used to be. I started my career as a salesperson and underwent some very intense selling program from companies like Eureka Forbes in direct selling, HCL in Office Automation and Computer Hardware selling, Xerox which had this wonderful program called Professional Selling Skills and last but not the least direct sales thru TVCs! Each on of them had a different way of selling. While Eureka Forbes was door to door direct consumer selling, HCL & Xerox was more enterprise and corporate selling. I enjoyed learning and applying both & over a period of time took training sessions in these organization for new entrants. In fact I quite enjoyed training and sharing my experiences from field and helped those budding sales trainees become ace sales persons. But that was 20 years ago! Read More..
